WIPW - idle fingers

Work In Progress Wednesday is a good chance to show off what progress one has made on one's needlework, or how little progress one has made! My fingers have been idle this week, and I do not have much to show. Head over to Pintangle and see what more nimble fingers have produced.

Swedish Cushion
NO progress whatsoever.

Swedish Wool Embroidery Collar
I stitched the kavelfrans (napped edgings) to the edge of the collar. It was HARD work to tame the 'fluffy creature' who wanted to wriggle, twist and turn, but now that it is 'chained',  I can put on the lining.

Kafferepet
I have quilted another row of (uneven) Chain Stitches along the border.

TAST Reference Chart
I added TAST #131 Beaded Lock Stitch to my reference chart.

Pretty god from those "idle" fingers!

your collar is looking wonderful Queenie and you have done a bit of stitching. Beaded lock stitch works well I have used it without the beads on my latest crazy block

Giant strides, or small steps, it's all progress. Besides, you achieved so much last week that a little rest is in order.

Are you stitching the chain from left to right? Glad you were stronger than the colourful creature.

Nice photo of your cushion, is this the spot for Kiko's flowers? Good to see you tamed the kavelfrans, I hope your fingers are not too sore. And don't you know chain stitches have to be uneven, it's the beauty of handwork!

Yes, it is exactly where Kiko's Flowers will grow on the cushion. My fingers are not that sore, but my temper was frayed! Good to know Chain stitches have to be uneven!

No, I am stitching the chain from up to down towards me; I just took the photo that funny way. That colourful creature tested my patience!

Thank you for your soothing words, Elizabeth. It was a week filled with family health business so the rest taken from needlework was wasted on fretting around hospitals instead. Hopefully things will be back to normal soon.

I think the Lock stich has so many 'faces' you could fill a whole cq block with them and no one but the TAST member would know they are basically the same.

Thank you, Julie. I had to give TLC to various family members instead of my needlework projects. Now, let's see what I can achieve this week.

Well the kavelfrans looks beautifully tamed indeed ! I dont think chain stitches are done perfectly by anyone and yours look just fine to me.........I'm still waiting for the 'stitch bug' to return so meanwhile I'm crocheting.......something to do with Autumn, I expect.

Glad to see you have shown the fluffy creature who is boss!

I hope your family are feeling better again.
I watched a video of the kavelfrans being made and now know how long and possibly tedious it would be to make - though well worth the effort. The fluffy edge incorporating the colours used in the cushion is great. I can hardly wait to see the complete cushion.
It would be hard to evenly chain something padded, so it's good news from Annet about the stitch...must remember that for my work :-)
I like the lock stitch but not done the last sample yet. Looking forward to Kiko's stitch again...and no WIPW to show. Where does the time go?

You have done a great job with the collar, the hard work is done and it is looking beautiful!

Queeniepatch said...

Thank you, Susan. Yes the hardest parts of the collar are done. What remains are 1) lining 2) braids 3) end decorations for the braids

I'm glad the kavelfrans is tied down; from now it will be plain sailing.
I hope you get the stitch bug soon, but until then enjoy the crocheting. It is always fun to make something for the season.

Thank you.

It is nice to be in charge of SOMETHING!

Yes, thank you this week is 'healthier' than last.
The traditional way of doing the fringed edging is probably fun - you have a partner and can chat. On your own it has to be stitched down and the thread must be pulled really tightly to keep the yarn steady
Oh, I am so grateful to your words about chain stitches.
Maybe you will have a lot of show next week for WIPW?

Your napped edgings on the collar look really nicely done and so colourful.

Thank you! Since posting the lining is now on and it is looking even better! : ))

Thank you, Janie. Much better now.
